Video filmed by David Bass when he took his mother, Berthe, to the opening of the Jewish section of the Malmesbury Museum in the old synagogue in 1991
David says: Just before leaving my parents' house in Oranjezicht, my Mom gives a bit of historic background, and then after the ceremony, which includes the lovely speech by Julius Kretzmar, and his delightful sing-song at the commencement, in Afrikaans, she takes me around the Jewish cemetery and lastly, back to the house in Malmesbury where she grew up.
